Bail Bond Basics

In just about every state, commercial bail bond businesses are allowed to operate. These businesses provide a way for people to get out of jail without having to pay the full amount of the bail set by the judge. The good businesses in this field are very professional, very easy to work with and can be very helpful if you’re not exactly sure what’s going on.

It Starts with Information

The most important tool you’re going to need to get someone out of jail is information. The bail bond company might be able to help you get some of this information, but you should try to have as much of it as possible before you call the bail bond company.

When someone is arrested, there is an entire process that they go through called booking. You’ve probably heard this term on television or read about it in novels before. Generally, it involves documenting when the person was picked up, what they were picked up for, taking their fingerprints, checking their criminal background and seeing if they have any warrants out for their arrest. After this is completed, they will be given a court date and an amount for bail will be set, if bail is required. Bail is not always required for someone to get out of jail.

Try to have as much of this information as you can before you call the bail bond company. There are some good reasons; however, that you might want to start working with the bail bond company right away when you figure out that the person has been arrested.

Paperwork

We have the paperwork you need to get someone out of jail available online. All you have to do is download it, print it out, sign what is required and send it back to the bail bond company. It’s a good idea, however, to contact the bail bond company first so that you know what paperwork they are going to require right away.

If you take care of this right away, it can make it a bit faster when you actually need to get the person out of jail. This will sometimes involve taking a trip down to the jail to meet with the bondsman so that you can sign any remaining paperwork. After that’s all been completed and you’ve paid the fees required, the person can be bailed out of jail.
